Artistic Director of Kazzum Heidi Vaughn will be sadly leaving Kazzum in June 2017. Heidi has been offered the position of Artistic Producer for Travelling Light in Bristol a company with which she has retained a strong relationship with over many years.

Kazzum Associate Artist Alex Evans will take up the position of interim AD until the end of the year. Alex has a longstanding relationship with Kazzum and will lead the company’s partnership with Salisbury Playhouse this summer.

During this transitional period Kazzum will continue to strive to create brilliant live perfor-mances and provide a spectrum of dynamic participatory activities. Young people remain the real heartbeat of our organisation and we are extremely proud to continue investing in those with fewer opportunities.

Alex Evans says: “I am thrilled to be joining Kazzum in the role of Interim Artistic Director, taking creative leadership of this wonderful and ever-important company. Thank you to Heidi for investing in the vision of Kazzum with such dedication and passion during your time here and I wish you all the best in your new role at Travelling Light. During this transitional time it is my privilege to build on the fantastic work of the company and guide our artists, partners and communities through the creation of even more beautiful, participant-centred and playful experiences.”

Kazzum chair Jack Ferro said: “Kazzum would like to wish Heidi well for her new job. She has done great work with Kazzum since her appointment in 2015, and leaves the company with an ambitious artistic programme for the coming year. Although we’re sad to see her go, we understand her desire to be closer to her family and the great opportunity afforded by her new position. It’s wonderful that our associate Alex, whose work we respect very highly, has agreed to take on the role of Interim Artistic Director ahead of our recruitment for a permanent successor.”
