Nurturing Change is a 90 minute workshop activity available to primary schools as a great introduction to variation, difference and evolution.
Kazzum will provide two professional workshop facilitators and materials to go into a school and deliver 3 workshops in a day (30 children per workshop). The workshop uses drama and visual art to engage children with a pertinent science topic.
The session involves devising the environment and life cycle of an imaginary ‘blob’. Pupils will explore storyboarding, and realising their ‘blob’ with clay and finally through drama. Teachers will be provided with a Resource Pack after the session, which contains lesson plans and reference materials that they can use to continue studying the topic with their pupils. The resource pack will support Key Stages 1 & 2 curriculum in the following areas:
Unit 1C What is sculpture: What is sculpture?
Unit 1A: Ourselves,
Unit 2A: Health and growth,
Unit 2C: Variation.
Unit 4B: Habitats
Unit 05: Living in a diverse world
Unit 4B: Storybooks
The Education Resource Pack is a useful tool to aid further exploration of the themes and a range of practical curriculum linked activities to engage children.
