The Baytree Centre

With the support of funding from Queen Mary University we ran a series of workshops at the Baytree Centre in Brixton for young girls from multicultural and multilingual backgrounds.

The workshops, co-created with the participants, centred around multi-sensorial forms of expression and celebrated the girls’ unique stories, their heritage, and the richness these bring to the wider community.

The Baytree Centre is a social inclusion charity for women and girls, based in the heart of Brixton, south London. An integral part of the community since 1991, they provide holistic support through personal development activities and workshops, mentoring, coaching, as well as English classes and integration support for newly arrived migrants and refugees.

Artwork created in the sessions was shared during the annual Baytree celebration in July 2023.
