Our new project at Ben Jonson primary school called ‘Seeing Sounds’ is an exciting opportunity for 2 small groups of students to collaborate with 2 professional artists as well as key adults from the school. We will be working together every Monday afternoon to develop the confidence, teamwork and wellbeing of the group whilst exploring music, making, movement and drama. It’s likely that we will be creating stories, songs, artwork and dance as we develop our listening, taking turns and expressive skills.
We will be working across the whole school year and so it’s a great chance to develop relationships and skills which can complement and hopefully enhance the learning which happens in the classroom, playground and at home. There will also be times throughout the year when we will share the work we have been creating with parents, teachers, friends and staff across the school.
For our first term we will start by exploring music and art with our artists Raphael Clarkson and Natasha Cossey who are very experienced in working with young people on creative projects – Natasha and Raphael are excited to work together and develop some fantastic art and music with the young people in the group.
