This summer Kazzum held the ‘Happy Ever After’ family festival a free family event for Tower Hamlets residents which transformed Weavers Field Pocket Park with amazing street performances, mystical storytelling, crown making workshops, badly-behaved goblins, yummy spit-chicken and inviting banqueting tables.
Unique in its concept, the fairytale festival was curated by a dedicated group of 40 young local people aged 16-25, who, with the help of professionals, wanted to reignite the borough’s tradition of offering fantastic free family events.
The training was broken up into four main strands:
• Artistic Programming – Working with Kazzum’s Artistic Director the group were responsible for the look and feel of the festival and chose the acts that performed.
• Marketing – Working with a Marketing Expert the group created a marketing plan and oversaw the creation of the festivals promotional materials
• Event Management – Working with a professional Production Manager the group took control of Health and Safety issues and stewarded on the day.
• Performing – Working with a Director the group created walkabout acts that were performed at the festival.
