Bespoke training opportunities for your organisation

Kazzum Arts has over 29 years’ experience working specifically with children and young people. We deliver bespoke training programmes that will develop your knowledge and skillset and improve outcomes for young people you work with.

Here are some of our training programmes:

Introduction to Trauma Informed Practice

In this pioneering training session Kazzum’s Artistic Director Alex Evans will introduce innovative models for the understanding of trauma informed practice. Focusing upon the World Health Organisation’s latest studies into Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES), the training will introduce participants to a broad understanding of childhood developmental trauma and its impact upon neurological development, focusing specifically on the protective factors that applied theatre practitioners can introduce when working with vulnerable participants. The workshop aims to enable a greater understanding of the specificity of safe spaces, developing confidence within participants to become emotionally available adults who are able to introduce accessible and informed activities to aid participant social engagement, creativity and wellbeing.

  • Duration: 3 Hours

  • Who is it for: Organisations looking to develop their knowledge around trauma informed practice

  • Capacity: Up to 30 people

Delivered by Alex Evans, Artistic Director of Kazzum, this workshop will encourage participants to develop both the practical skills and theoretical knowledge in order to communicate more effectively and increase understanding, comprehension and expression within applied theatre practices.

Working creatively with young people in healthcare settings

Kazzum’s Apollo project has worked in collaboration with healthcare professionals, services and young people since 2011. Using a multidisciplinary approach encompassing theatre, music, film and visual arts, Kazzum’s work with young people in hospital and healthcare settings has gained a reputation for bringing joyful, meaningful interactions into clinical settings. This workshop aims to develop participant insight through a series of practical exercises and case studies which aim to illustrate the many challenges and opportunities that the applied arts can introduce to healthcare spaces. Facilitated by Kazzum’s Artistic Director Alex Evans, the workshop will also explore issues surrounding the emotional dysregulation that artists can encounter when working with young people in hospitals.
